Round 4 of 2017 China Touring Car Championship will see Rainey He and Andy Yan of Changan Ford Racing Team start from seventh and eighth positions on the grid in race one tomorrow morning. Martin Cao, the current leader in the Drivers’ Championship and the third core member of the team, will begin his challenge in 12th.

Following the successes of the last couple of rounds, which propelled Changan Ford Racing Team to the top of the Manufacturers’ standings, the team will be racing at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit carrying a total of 340kg between them in success ballasts as well as unfavourable Balance of Performance (BoP).

Joining Changan Ford Racing Team for the first time this weekend is Peter Li, who has recovered from horrific injuries sustained in a shocking crash at a race in Austria last year. Despite the time out, the 23-year-old from Guangzhou is driving well, and working hard with the engineers and technicians to look for a solid showing tomorrow.

Zhong Guo-qian, Team Manager of Changan Ford Racing Team, said:“Our drivers had a solid run today. Because of our successes in the last round, we are carrying around 50kg of extra weight per car and together with the BoP, which is there to reduce the power of our engines, it can have a significant impact of our performance and lap times. You can see from the results of the qualifying race that it is really, really tight, and despite the disadvantages, I think we have performed solidly and we are pleased with where we are.

Peter has done amazingly well to bounce back from his injuries and you can see that he is already performing at a very high level. With him, it is just a case of getting rid of the cob webs, race more and he will be back in full flow in no time. We will be ready tomorrow, and don’t see any major concerns in terms of our drivers being able to deliver two good races tomorrow.

With hot and sunny conditions forecasted for tomorrow, Captain He, Yan, Cao, and Li will look to further Changan Ford Race Team’s lead in the overall team standings through two races at 8:43 and 13:23.
